Please join us for an intimate night of original songs from Alaska and Max — we look forward to sharing it with you.

Tea x Music

We are delighted to begin a new music series at Setsugekka.

In addition to our ongoing most popular koto and shamisen concerts, we hope to make Setsugekka a place that reflects the richness of New York’s music scene — connecting the timeless beauty of traditional Japanese music with the city’s vibrant creativity. Tea is a culture that brings people together, and music, too, has the power to connect hearts. Through both, we wish to create a space where harmony, artistry, and community meet.

Following the meditative “Tea and Electric Music” with River on Halloween night, our talented team continues to share their creativity at Setsugekka.

On Thursday, November 7, Alaska Day and Max Ventura will present “Day x Ventura: Quiet Nights, Quiet Songs” — an evening of original music and gentle bossa nova rhythms.

Join us for a night of warmth and melody, where voices, songs, and hearts quietly meet.

Artist's Profile

Alaska Day

Alaska picked up the guitar at 13 and began performing across New York City venues, restaurants, breweries, and festivals by the age of 17. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz and Contemporary Music from The New School in 2016, with a focus on jazz guitar, vocals, and composition.

Her original music captures moments of vulnerability through solemn yet sweet lullabies that blur the lines between jazz, indie, and pop.

Alaska has collaborated with a range of local artists and groups, including Kerry Blu, SugarMama, and Celine Iris. She is also the bandleader and songwriter of Broken Flight, a collective of rotating musicians who bring her original songs to life. Alaska is currently producing her next single, “Kiss Me Until the Lights Go Out.

Max Ventura

Max Ventura is a composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He began learning piano at age seven, and later on added guitar and woodwinds.

He has performed in a wide range of ensembles, including jazz big bands and combos, rock bands, wind ensembles, and pit orchestras. His musicality spans across many genres, but he can’t help but always take inspiration from jazz harmony. His music is often playful and ethereal, and in one way or another, evokes the diverse, colorful nature of the individual and the universe.
