The Art of Chabako — A Tea Box Ceremony by Souheki Mori
Saturday, April 11, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Admission: $65 plus tax per person
We are delighted to offer you an authentic Japanese tea ceremony by Souheki Mori. On this special occasion, in collaboration with Omar Aly's photography exhibition, we will host a Chabako — A Tea Box Ceremony.
In Japan, it is a cherished tradition to enjoy hanami—viewing cherry blossoms in full bloom during spring. While preparing and enjoying tea outdoors is known as nodate, this gathering will feature a special style of tea ceremony using a chabako, or tea box. All the necessary utensils are carefully arranged within a single box, which is then carried to the setting and opened for the ceremony.
Unlike a standard tea practice, there is a unique charm in watching each utensil being thoughtfully taken out, purified, and prepared one by one. This unfolding process offers a sense of quiet delight and discovery.
As you view Omar’s photographs, we hope you will feel as though you are experiencing the beauty of spring in Japan. This engaging and sensory tea cereminy will be accompanied by the opportunity to appreciate the magical photos of Omar, which will be on display throughout the ceremony.
We look forward to welcoming you.
